Đovana was found in August 1971 as a refugee child in the toilets of the train coming from Turkey or Greece. She had no documents with her and communication was difficult because she was deaf and unable to speak. She continued to grow up in Slovenia and in 1978 she gave birth to a son, Marko. Marko was given up for adoption almost immediately after birth. She later sent him a card from Ibiza, Spain. Nothing has been heard from her since. Her son Marko is still looking for her.
