A week before Christmas, on Saturday December 14, 1991, Jérôme Cantet, will leave to the nearby shopping center called “Les 4 temps”. Jérôme is 10 years old at the time and living with his mom in the Parisian suburb of Courbevoie. He wants to buy a Christmas present for his mom and has 300 french francs in his pocket. He leaves home at approximately 2pm. He agrees to meet again with his mom after 30 minutes at the top of an escalator in a nearby shopping center. He leaves with his skateboard. When Jérôme does not show up, his mother becomes worried and starts looking for him. Around 7pm she contacts the police. Police wait until Monday to do a thorough search of the shopping center and surrounding areas, search dogs were brought in that evening. Jérôme’s skateboard is found stuck behind a door in the “Coupole” parking garage. In 1992 his mom receives several troubling phone calls, one of which came from a person with a child’s voice that she recognized as her sons, saying: “Mom, Mom , I’m going to die, he is hitting me!”.
