BORMS Brian

On May 31, 2017, the then 23-year-old Brian BORMS left with his bicycle to Zele station in the morning. He left his parental home, located in the Rinkhout in Zele. Brian regularly takes the train from Zele to Antwerp, where he has contacts in the drug world. Brian Borms had a difficult childhood and is struggling with drug addiction. The investigation shows that Brian Borms withdrew money in Zele at 10.57 am. At around 11:14 am he bought his train ticket to Antwerp and at 12:59 am he collected money for a second time in Borgerhout. Afterwards he took the train home again. But Brian did not get off in Zele, but at Lokeren station. This must have been around 3.15 pm. He called his mother at 3.21 pm to pick him up at the industrial estate of Lokeren, more specifically from the company “Bakkerij Roelandt”. His mother drove to the place of appointment but couldn’t find him. She went back home afterwards and tried again at 4.13 pm to call Brian on his mobile phone but got no more answer. Brian’s mobile phone, however, remained active until June 5, 2017 under the transmission tower of the Nieuwstraat in Lokeren, but Brian himself is missing any trace. Did Brian Borms run into the wrong people while on his way to the place of appointment with his mother, did he become unwell and unhappy somewhere or did he himself decide to disappear, all these pistes remain open.
On March 28 and 29, 2018, there were major searches that were coordinated by the missing persons cell. The searches took place on the water and in the vicinity of the transmission tower on which Brian’s cell phone was last captured. Brian’s body was not found.
During the searches a jacket was found: a black raincoat of the Adidas brand, size 8. This may be by Brian Borms, but there is no definite answer about that. But if someone recognizes this jacket or if someone has lost / forgotten this jacket in the forest, the investigators would like to know.

- Personal Items: The device Brian was carrying at the time of his disappearance was a 7-year-old Nokia 2720. We don’t know what color.
