On August 14, 1983, at 5.10 pm, Marc VAN HERF disappeared in Bassenge (Eben-Emael) on his way home. He was then 14 years old. He returned with his 10-year-old brother Patrick from a visit to their uncle. Since they only had one bike, Patrick decided to continue riding alone. On top of a hill he looked back and saw his brother walking. Since then every trace has been missing.
