UM-0025

This concerns nine unknown victims of possibly different nationalities. The bodies were found between 1940 and 1981 and were buried at Burgh-Haamstede. These persons were excavated on September 16 and 17, 2013 to collect DNA to make a DNA profile which can be included in the Missing Persons DNA database. The bodies were reburied the same day at Burgh-Haamstede.

Victim 1: High leather shoes with worn out soles were found with this body. A vest (possibly made of wool) was also found with many copper buttons. He was probably a sailor and believed to have been between 30 and 42 years old when he died. Body length between 162cm and 177cm. He is said to have washed ashore on October 25, 1942.
Victim 2: No details were found on this body. However, his age at death is estimated between 35 and 55 years with a standing body height between 165cm and 184cm.
Victim 3: Buttons and a buckle of trousers were found with this body. This person is also said to have worn dentures on the top of his teeth. His age at death is estimated to be between 41 and 47 years old with a standing body height between 159 and 179 cm.
Victim 4: This victim had 3 vertebrae in the spine (possibly back problems), and he also had bow-leggedness (Genu Varum). His age at death is estimated to be between 64 and 75 years with a standing body height between 166 and 186 cm.
Victims 5-6-7 and 8: Four bodies could be Indian sailors found around July 1946. One man would have been aged between 42 and 59 with a body length between 156 and 176 cm. One man would have been aged between 55 and 59.5 years with a body height between 158 and 178 cm. One man would have been aged between 55 and 61 years with a body height between 157 and 177 cm and one man would have been aged between 36 and 59 years with a body height between 157 and 177 cm.
Victim 9: No details were found on this body. However, his age at death is estimated to be between 37 and 46 years with a body height between 155 and 175 cm.
