On Saturday, June 16, 2001 a man who had attacked a guard with a knife and had shot himself a little later could not yet be identified. Around 5:20 am that day, a 46-year-old guard was seriously injured in front of police section 53 in Friedrichstrasse in Kreuzberg by a knife stab in the upper body. The perpetrator robbed his service weapon and fled. When searching the area, police officers heard a shot shortly after 7 a.m. and found the wanted person dead on the courtyard of the Kochstrasse 65 property. He had shot himself in the head with the stolen service weapon.
